QUT Scholarships

The program enables you to maximize your time at the Queensland University of Technology by providing additional development opportunities that strengthen your leadership abilities and professional networks.

QUT is interested in your academic success. You can use our scholarships to your advantage by receiving financial aid, gaining work experience, and taking advantage of unique networking possibilities.

About QUT Scholarships

There may be a scholarship available for you if you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, are an aspiring entrepreneur, are having financial difficulties, are from a rural or regional location, or have exceptional academic, sport and sport, creative, or STEM achievements.

Even scholarships for particular academic fields are available. Make sure to look into and apply for all the scholarships you are qualified for if you want to have the best chance.

Below are QUT scholarships, find the scholarship that takes your success to the next level;

International Merit Scholarship

A high-achievement scholarship for future international undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Study levels: Undergraduate and Postgraduate

Student type: Future students

Study area: All study areas

The QUT International Merit Scholarship is available from all faculties:

  • Faculty of Business and Law
  • Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Health
  • Faculty of Science.

It is available for Students who:

1. Have demonstrated academic excellence in their past studies

2. Continue to achieve high standards for the duration of their studies.

In addition to the financial support, you are encouraged to make the most of your QUT experience through extra development opportunities, which build your leadership skills and professional networks.

What You’ll Receive

You’ll receive either:

1. A scholarship to cover 25% of your tuition fees for your first two semesters (one year) of study at QUT, provided you meet the minimum academic standards.

2. An ongoing scholarship to cover 25% of your tuition fees per semester of study at QUT, provided you meet the ongoing academic conditions for all eligible courses offered by:

  • Faculty of Business and Law
  • Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Science.

The ongoing scholarship is not available for courses offered by the Faculty of Health.

Other benefits may include:

  • Scholarship award ceremony
  • Membership of the QUT College of Excellence.

General Eligibility Requirements

You must meet all the following requirements:

1. Completed a qualifying course with the required academic result

2. Meet minimum English language entry requirements for the degree program. If you complete a QUT pathway program to satisfy QUT English language requirements, you may be eligible for this scholarship once you start your degree program

3. Receive an admission offer letter into one of the eligible courses offered by participating faculties.

You’re not eligible if:

  • you receive another QUT academic scholarship.

QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic)

QUT Excellence scholarships are the university’s premier offering for students with outstanding academic achievement.

What you’ll receive

Scholarships available include:

1. Scholarships valued at $30,000 each for study in any discipline

2. Scholarships are valued at $30,000 each for courses in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering only.

3. These scholarships will be paid as a study stipend of up to $5,000 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for up to three years ($10,000 per year).

4. Scholarships are valued at $10,000 each for study in any discipline.

This scholarship will be paid as a study stipend of $2,500 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for the first four semesters of your course ($5,000 per year).

Other Benefits may include:

1. Early access to research opportunities

2. Membership to QUT’s College of Excellence.

3. As part of QUT’s commitment to Women in STEM, they will offer at least 50% of QUT Excellence Scholarships in STEM to eligible female students.

Successful recipients from the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering who achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 6 or above in their first semester will be invited to apply for a place in the Science and Engineering Dean’s Scholars Program from Semester 2, 2024.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

You must be one of:

1. An Australian or New Zealand citizen

2. A permanent resident

3. The holder of a permanent humanitarian visa

4. An international student who has completed high school (or International Baccalaureate) in Australia or an Australian curriculum overseas.

You must also:

5. Be graduating Year 12 in 2022 or have graduated Year 12 in 2021

6. Be starting university for the first time in 2024

7. Have achieved a minimum unadjusted ATAR of 98 or equivalent

8. Have placed QUT as your first preference on your QTAC application.

How to Apply for the Scholarship

You do not need to complete a scholarship application for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic). All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates with a QUT course as their first preference will be considered.

Other scholarships at QUT may require you to complete a separate application form. For further information, refer to the scholarships listed above or view our scholarships.

What Happens Next?

We’ll make scholarship offers from January 2024.

Due to the large volume of applications received, we’ll only notify students who are successful in being offered a scholarship. We won’t consider appeals for unsuccessful applications.

Conditions to Keep Your Scholarship

To keep your scholarship, you must:

1. Remain enrolled full-time

2. Maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher each semester.

You can:

  • Take a leave of absence for up to two years but only after you have completed one semester of study. You won’t receive scholarship payments during this time
  • If you defer your course, you can defer your QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic), provided you haven’t undertaken university study in the meantime.

You can’t:

  • Defer your offer and undertake alternative university studies
  • Hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship.

QUT College Merit Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by QUT College. It is available to international students who have demonstrated academic achievement or can demonstrate how they intend to commit to success in their

What You’ll Receive

You will receive either:

1. A scholarship to cover $2,600 of your first-semester tuition fee for your foundation program

2. A scholarship to cover $3,120 of your first-semester tuition fee for your diploma program.

Other benefits may include:

  • Attend the QUT College scholarship award ceremony
  • Receive a certificate of recognition.

Eligibility

Your eligibility will depend on your secondary school results:

I have an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR):

You must:

1. Have completed ATAR within Australia or overseas, and received an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 68, or higher.

2. Meet all of the course entry requirements and have received a QUT offer letter for one of the following courses:

  • Diploma in Creative Industries
  • Diploma in Health Science
  • Diploma in Business
  • Diploma in Engineering
  • Diploma in Information Technology

I have an overseas qualification:

You Must:

1. Have completed your most recent academic qualification outside Australia with the required academic result

2. Meet all of the course entry requirements and have received a QUT offer letter for one of the following courses:
