University of Adelaide PhD Scholarship

Numerous government- and university-funded scholarships are available to help you with your application.

Other opportunities exist in addition to these rounds of competition, such as significant awards that are externally sponsored, top-ups, programs and placements in industries, reimbursements for running expenses, and travel scholarships.

University of Adelaide PhD Scholarship

Major and mid-year options are available for both domestic and foreign students. During the application rounds, if you apply, you will be automatically considered for all of the scholarships offered during that round.

At the major and mid-year rounds, just a portion of the opportunities are presented.

You will find this information related to the funding opportunity indicated. All other possibilities typically require a unique and separate application.

Domestic Scholarship rounds

With only a small number of scholarships available in the mid-year round, the major round is when most government and university-funded scholarships are offered. Every scholarship includes both a living allowance and tuition.

In the major round, additional awards with distinct eligibility requirements can be given out, and you’ll be evaluated for each one based on its requirements.

How to Apply

Only applicants with Permanent Residency, Australian Citizenship, or New Zealand Citizenship status are eligible to apply.

You can make applications for:

Relevant details about the online application

You can find any additional information you might need to complete your application in the online application form’s HELP menu and Useful Links.

Anytime before submitting, you can store the information in your application and come back to it later.

Required Documentation:

When completing your application, you will be required to upload copies of documents that include at least the following:

  • Citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Degree parchments
  • Academic transcripts
  • Translations of non-English documentation
  • EVIDENCE of English language proficiency
  • A curriculum vitae

Each qualification, whether complete or unfinished, must be listed separately in your application, and you must attach a transcript for each one.

You must upload the entire transcript for each entry if more than one qualification or program is listed on the same transcript.

Please be aware that you are not needed to provide your University of Adelaide transcript.

Before the applicable application round’s deadline, you must meet the requirements and show documentation of your English language proficiency (ELP).

Selection Guidelines

You will be considered for the Master of Philosophy (No Honours) scholarships if you have a completed Bachelor’s degree but no other postgraduate credentials.

The Grade Point Average (GPA) from their undergraduate program is used to rate the applicants that are included in this pool, and scholarships are given to the top-scoring candidates.

For consideration for Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships, University of Adelaide Scholarships, and other major and supplemental awards, candidates must have an honors degree, postgraduate degrees with a significant research component, or significant research experience and/or publications.

The Undergraduate Score and the Postgraduate Score are used to rate each application in this pool for applicants who have a postgraduate degree (or an equivalent).

The Undergraduate Score is derived from the academic results of an applicant’s undergraduate degree.

The Postgraduate score may be comprised of one or more of the following: Honours results, postgraduate research degree results, publications, and significant relevant research experience.

Note: A student is considered a ‘recent graduate’ if they have completed their University of Adelaide qualification within the last 2 years (4 semesters).

Selection Guidelines

Once your application has been submitted and you have met all of the requirements, you will be eligible to apply for foreign research scholarships:

Every requirement has been satisfactorily met (unless you are a currently enrolled student at the University of Adelaide).

If you are working toward a qualification, you won’t be eligible for consideration until you submit proof of completion or, if you don’t intend to finish, proof of withdrawal.

Minimum requirements for English language proficiency

approval of a project where autonomous sanctions are applicable.
