Scholarships for Incoming Students

As an incoming student at NYU, you are eligible for select scholarships.

1. AnBryce Scholarships

Academically driven individuals who can prove they have financial needs and are the first in their family to attend college will be given this scholarship.

The scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at NYU and will cover the cost of tuition. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required of students, and they must continue to participate in program activities.

2. Lenape Scholarship

The Lenape Scholarship will be given to applicants with a documented involvement in or engagement with Native American culture and communities, independent of tribal membership, in recognition of the Lenape people and the lands on which New York University was established.

Students who self-certify as belonging to the Lenape tribal nation will be given preference.

3. Lewis Rudin City Scholarships

Outstanding first-year students in all five boroughs of New York City’s public and private high schools are chosen to be Rudin Scholars.

They take part in academic and cultural events all across the city in addition to their scholarship. The late real estate developer and NYU alumnus Lewis Rudin are honored by the program’s name.

4. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to outstanding community college transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges.

Transfer students from all colleges who are members of the society and who have participated in its programs are eligible for consideration.

5. Yellow Ribbon Scholarships

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. Yellow Ribbon is a scholarship designed to help military or veteran students supplement their Post 9/11 GI Bill tuition benefits.

  • Global Pathways Scholarships

Want to travel the globe? We can support you there. The additional costs of studying away for undergraduate degree-seeking students whose home campus is in New York City are covered by this need-based scholarship of up to $4,000 per semester.

To be taken into consideration, you must have a valid FAFSA on file with the university. For the fall semester, awards are announced in June; for the spring semester, awards are announced in November.

College of Arts and Science

  • P.O.I.S.E. Scholars

Students from the Borough of Manhattan Community College who want to major in a field linked to science, technology, engineering, psychology, or math are eligible for the program.

The goal of the various activities and social networking opportunities that students take part in is to help them succeed academically and get ready for the transfer to a four-year institution.

  • Presidential Honors Scholars Program

Students who have excelled in their academics and have exemplary records of leadership and service to their school and community are eligible for this program.

In addition to taking part in seminars and regular lectures and debates, scholars often participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities.

The honors track in their major must be completed, and recipients must spend some of their NYU time studying abroad.

Gallatin School of Individualized Study

  • Scholars Program

Gallatin Scholars participate in a carefully planned program of cultural and intellectual activities, including concerts, theatrical performances, and lectures.

They also take study trips; past groups have traveled to Greece, Italy, Thailand, China, and Spain, as well as throughout the United States.

Rory Meyers College of Nursing

  • Meyers Nursing Scholars Program

This scholarship will meet the full demonstrated financial need for two incoming first-year students. Preference is given to students who are the first generation in their family to attend college, are high achieving with financial need, and who have a demonstrated interest in nursing.

Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development

  • Scholars Program

As part of the school’s honors program, this program promotes excellence in academic achievement and leadership.

Scholars participate in a mix of seminars, domestic and international travel colloquia, research, social activities, and community service. All qualified freshman and transfer applicants are automatically considered.

  • Community College Transfer Opportunity Program Scholarships

Qualified students transferring from community colleges participating in the Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP) are eligible for this need-based scholarship. Students must be nominated for consideration by the dean, department chairperson, professor, or transfer counselor of their community college.

  • Education Scholarships

These are awarded to entering freshmen and transfer students who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential and have chosen to major in education.

  • Artistic Scholarships

These scholarships are for entering freshmen who show exceptional promise in music or studio art.

  • Gateway Mathematics Education Scholarships

This program offers both financial and academic support for community college transfer students intending to become mathematics teachers in New York City.
