About the Cardenas Scholarship

The Cardenas Markets Foundation upholds its commitment to supporting the local communities it serves by giving scholarships to students in the areas where Cardenas Markets is present.

A total of 64 scholarships totaling $3,000 each will be awarded for the 2024 school year.

While selecting beneficiaries, factors such as academic achievement, financial need, leadership potential, and commitment to community service will all be taken into account.

By visiting the official websites, students who match the qualifications can apply from now through March 23, 2023.

According to Adam Salgado, president of the Cardenas Markets Foundation, the group is committed to helping students meet their educational goals.

Eligibility for the Cardenas Scholarship

1. Must be a senior in high school currently enrolled in one of the schools listed below in the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

2. College students who are still enrolled (Except for Mission College Students)

3. must be a graduate of one of the institutions mentioned.

4. To retain full-time attendance until the spring of 2024, a student must be admitted or enrolled in a college, trade school, university, community college, or both by the fall of 2023.

5. A first-year student is required to take at least 12 units.

6. Los Angeles Mission College students

7. It is necessary to be a full-time student at Los Angeles Mission College.

8. Must file a request for federal financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Documents Required for the Cardenas Scholarship

To complete the application, the following papers must be completed and submitted by the deadlines noted:

1. GPA Verification

You must provide proof of your most recent GPA. You may also submit a GPA Verification Form, which you can obtain by clicking here.

For the class of 2023, we will accept applicants’ unofficial LAUSD transcripts or photos of your LAUSD transcripts in place of the GPA verification form.

The screenshot must include your name and the current date.

2. Educational Resume

Although alleviating financial burdens is a significant element of Tennessee Promise, one of its most important components is the individualized counseling each participant will receive from a mentor who will assist the student as he or she navigates the college admissions process.

Also, participants in the Tennessee Promise are required to complete eight hours of community service for each term they are enrolled in addition to maintaining good academic progress (2.0 GPA) at their institution.

3. DocuFree Application for Federal Student AiD (FAFSA)

The U.S. Department of Education offers the FAFSA as a free tool for applying for federal and state student loans, work-study positions, and awards. The Foundation strongly advises all scholarship applicants to fill out a federal financial aid application. To submit a FAFSA, kindly go here.

4. Letter of Recommendation

This letter will affect the selection procedure. A letter of reference might help the scholarship committee distinguish you from other applicants.

It must describe your relationship and length of acquaintance with your recommender, as well as your drive, leadership, and dedication to your academic objectives.

Also, it must provide concrete examples of how you have proven your capacity to compete in a college environment and your commitment to community service.

A teacher, a counselor, or a college advisor should write your recommendation.

Instead, your most recent employer could act as your recommendation if you have been out of school for two or more years.

The recommender shouldn’t be a friend or family member.
