Lockheed Martin will provide approximately $8 million to two scholarship programs this year 2023 to expand networks of opportunity, fill skill gaps, and get the next generation ready for the workforce of the future.
About Lockheed Martin Scholarship 2023
Lockheed Martin is providing a four-year Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Scholarship program for the fourth consecutive year.
Nearly 600 students who are majoring in engineering or computer science, have financial needs, and originate from minority or underserved communities have received help through this program.
For the second consecutive year, Lockheed Martin is providing associate degree candidates with a vocational scholarship program.
More than 150 students of all ages are now supported by this program as they pursue skills-based training in fields such as cutting-edge technology and advanced manufacturing.
Types of Lockheed Martin Scholarship
The development of a competitive and diverse workforce capable of having a significant impact on emerging technologies like cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, and other career paths depends on these scholarship programs.
They received around 7,000 applications Last year. The next generation of outstanding talent is developed through these competitive programs, which can also be used as a stepping stone to a career with Lockheed Martin.
More than 60 students from both scholarship programs have been given early-career opportunities at Lockheed Martin, including internships and apprenticeships.
Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program
The STEM Scholarship Program was introduced by Lockheed Martin in 2018 as a part of its investment in the upcoming STEM talent.
They are dedicated to giving all students, especially those from diverse backgrounds and communities that have historically been underrepresented in STEM professions, access to pathways through education and into the STEM sector.
The STEM Scholarship Program gives out $10,000 annually to 200 students who are enrolled in 4-year colleges or universities and are studying engineering or computer science.
The scholarship may be renewed up to three times, with a maximum possible value of $40,000 per student.
The new cycle’s application period will begin in January 2024.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants to the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. U.S. citizen
2. Demonstrated financial need
3. High school senior with a 2.5 or above GPA OR a freshman or a sophomore undergraduate student with a 2.5 or above GPA
4. Current or planned 4-year degree enrollment in the following majors:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mathematics
- Mechanical Engineering
- Physics
5. Current or planned full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university
Regardless of any other circumstances, interest in a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college (note: the internship is not required to receive a scholarship, and scholarship recipients are not guaranteed an internship)
Selection of Recipients
1. Academic performance, leadership qualities and involvement in extracurricular activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational aims and objectives, atypical personal or family situations, and an outside evaluation are all taken into account when choosing scholarship recipients.
2. Those who self-identify as belonging to groups historically underrepresented in STEM fields, such as women, racial and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act), LGBTQ people, and others, will be given further consideration. First-generation college students; those who are or will be active duty military members of the United States, including Reserves and the National Guard; those who are veterans of the United States military, including Reserves and the National Guard; and those who are the spouses of such members.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America; in no instance does any officer or employee of Lockheed Martin play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship
Lockheed Martin introduced the Vocational Scholarship program in January 2020 to assist students of all ages in pursuing skills-based education in engineering, technology, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
A significant part of Lockheed Martin’s involvement in education and workforce development is the Vocational Scholarship program.
The Vocational Scholarship Program at Lockheed Martin will give up to $5,000 to 150 students in 2024.
The new cycle’s application period will begin in January 2024.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants to the Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Program must meet all the following eligibility requirements. Applicants must:
1. Be a U.S. citizen.
2. Be a high school senior OR high school graduate (or GED equivalent).
3. Have not earned a bachelor’s degree before the 2023-24 academic year.
4. Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll part- or full-time at one of the following types of accredited institutions: vocational-technical school, trade school, two-year community college, or state college.
5. Be pursuing an associate’s degree, credit-bearing certificate, or an industry-recognized credential, in one of the fields of study below, with an anticipated completion date no earlier than December 2023 and no later than June 2025.
Note: If the student’s Specific Major falls under one of the listed Fields of Study, but the student’s Specific Major is not listed, the student is still eligible to apply.

Vocational Scholarship Selection of Recipients
Academic achievement, professional experience, a statement of educational and career aims and objectives, special personal or family circumstances, and an outside evaluation are all taken into account when choosing the scholarship recipients.
Candidates attending or intending to attend one of Lockheed Martin’s priority institutions will receive preference. To be eligible for the scholarship, attendance at one of the prioritized colleges is not required.
Women, members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, people with disabilities (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act), LGBTQ people, first-generation college students, active duty members of the armed forces, including members of the Reserves and National Guard, and veterans including Reserves and National Guard; Spouse of U.S. military Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or Veteran of the armed forces will all receive extra consideration.
