Yusuf Maitama Sule University (YUMSU), Kano is a Nigerian university owned by the Kano State Government i.e it is being operated and run by the Kano state government.
In 2012, it commissioned the State University during the leadership of His Excellency Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
There are two campuses at Yusuf Maitama Sule University: City Campus located at Ado Bayero House, Kofar Nassarawa, Kano State, and the Main Campus: located along General Buhari Way, Kofar Ruwa, Kano State.
The National University Commission (NUC) approved degree programmes to be run by the institution as well as post-graduate programmes.

The undergraduate programme in Yumsu can be gained through UTME or direct entry
YUMSU Admission Requirements Through UTME
If you are seeking admission to YUMSU through UTME, you must:
- Have reached the age of 16 and above
- Have at least five(5) credit grades in your O’level result(s), which English and mathematics are compulsory
- Have at least 170 in your UTME
- Take YUMSU post UTME and must perform well depending on the course you applied
- Choose a correct subject combination in your course
- Have a stipulated cut-off mark for your required course
YUMSU Admission Requirements Through Direct Entry
Candidates who are interested in gaining admission through direct entry to YUMSU can be qualified with the following:
- Must have at least five (5) credit grades in their O’level result(s), which include English and Mathematics. N/B: two sitting result is not allowed
- Must have gotten JAMB direct entry form from JAMB
- Must have any of the following certificates: OND, NCE, HND, BSc, ICAN
