About TN Promise Scholarship
Tennessee Promise provides an opportunity for recent high school graduates to enroll in a community or technical college without having to pay tuition or other costs. Tennessee Promise is a scholarship and mentoring program.
A last-dollar scholarship will be given to students, covering any remaining tuition and costs not previously paid by the TSAA, the HOPE scholarship, or the Pell Grant.
Any of the 24 applied technology colleges or the 13 community colleges that make up the College System of Tennessee may accept the scholarship.
Although alleviating financial burdens is a significant element of Tennessee Promise, one of its most important components is the individualized counseling each participant will receive from a mentor who will assist the student as he or she navigates the college admissions process.
Also, participants in the Tennessee Promise are required to complete eight hours of community service for each term they are enrolled in addition to maintaining good academic progress (2.0 GPA) at their institution.

Eligibility for the TN Promise Scholarship
1. Anyone who completes a Tennessee homeschool program or graduates from a high school that qualifies in Tennessee may apply for the Promise.
2. Early in the fall of their senior year of high school, students will submit their applications, and by January, they will be working with a mentor and attending necessary meetings in their counties.
3. Even though all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, are eligible to participate in the Tennessee Promise, associated organizations will work with high school guidance counselors to concentrate on at-risk youth who would not otherwise continue their education past high school.
To receive Tennessee Promise, a student must:
4. Take part in and complete all requirements of a Tennessee Promise Partnering Organization.
5. Follow all deadlines and submit your application in your final year.
6. Attend any scheduled team meetings as well as the obligatory college orientation.
7. After graduating from high school, start going to a postsecondary college and stay there for at least two semesters.
8. Maintain a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
9. Enroll at a postsecondary institution for several semesters. (If a student withdraws from all of their classes throughout the semester, they will no longer be eligible.)
10. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1 of each year, starting in high school and continuing throughout one’s college career.
11. Continue to advance academically sufficiently. This is comparable to maintaining a 2.0 GPA per semester at most universities.
12. Do at least eight hours of community service each semester.
Over time, the TN Promise Scholarship has provided financial support, and right now, nothing can stop you from joining this family.
