Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellows will have the opportunity to conduct research at scientific institutions or universities across the country.

The management of the DBT RRF Program falls under the purview of the DBT-HRD Project & Management Unit (DBT-HRD PMU), which is based at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) in the NCR Biotech Science cluster, Faridabad.

Applications are now open for the 2022-23 year, inviting Indian nationals employed in research institutions overseas to apply for the “Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship.”

The fellowship has a standard duration of three years, but in exceptional cases, it may be extended for an additional two years following a thorough performance evaluation.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

1. Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to submit applications.

2. Age Requirement: Applicants must be under the age of 45 as of the application closing date.

3. Research Area: Individuals engaged in research within various domains such as life sciences, biotechnology, bio-engineering, healthcare (both human and animal), agriculture, veterinary biotechnology, bio-energy, and related fields are eligible to apply.

4. Educational Background and Experience: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or MD degree (or equivalent) in life sciences, agriculture, bioinformatics, or related areas, or possess an M.Tech degree in engineering, technology, medicine, etc.

They must also have a minimum of three years of post-doctoral research experience in research laboratories overseas.

Furthermore, applicants should demonstrate a strong track record supported by research publications and accolades.

5. Return to India: Individuals who have returned to India within one year of the application closing date (or two years for women candidates) are also eligible to apply.

However, if they have secured a permanent position in India during this period, they are not eligible to apply.

3. Applicants are required to register on the online portal, complete all necessary information in the online application form, and submit it before the application closing date.

4. The online application form will include sections for the following information: Personal Details, Academic Qualifications, Post-Doctoral Experience, Work History, Research Contributions, Referee Information, Proposed Research Project, and Preferred Host Institution.

5. Along with the online application form, applicants must upload the following documents:

  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Copy of Passport (if applicable)
  • Doctoral Degree Certificate
  • Documentation of Research Contributions
  • Copies of the 5 Best Research Publications
  • Research Proposal outlining the Proposed Research Project
  • Certificate from the Host Institution
  • Letters of Recommendation

6. An Undertaking from the applicant or a Statement from the Current Employer (if applicable), certifying that the applicant does not hold a permanent position in India.

7. It is crucial to provide the certificate from the host institution; applications lacking this document will not be considered.

8. Applications submitted through any method other than the Online Portal will not be accepted.
