Zell Miller Scholarship: If you are a resident of Georgia you are free to apply for the Zell Miller Scholarship if you have shown academic excellence. The scholarship offers financial aid to help students pay their tuition at a college or university that is eligible for the Zell Miller Scholarship.
Program eligibility requirements, academic standards, and a period of eligibility are all part of the Zell Miller Scholarship in Georgia.
Note Below:
1. Through their GAfutures account at My High School HOPE GPA, Georgia public and private high school students can monitor the progress of their Zell Miller Scholarship after graduating from high school.
2. In order to be evaluated for academic eligibility, graduates of out-of-state high schools or unaccredited home study programs must submit an academic evaluation request and supporting documentation. Use the GAfutures Document Upload feature to submit academic evaluation documents as one file.
Scholarship Basic Eligibility Criteria
Students must fulfill basic conditions for the Zell Miller Scholarship program in order to be originally awarded following high school graduation and retained while enrolled in an accredited college or university (postsecondary institutions). A student who qualifies must:
1. Meet the requirements for U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizenship
2. The postsecondary institutions are here. Residency requirements in Georgia
3. Be accepted as a degree-seeking student at a USG, TCSG, or private Georgian institution that meets the criteria for the Zell Miller Scholarship.
4. Abide with Georgia state law regarding registration requirements for the Selective Service. Males who were born on or after January 1, 1960, who are at least 18 years old, citizens of the United States, or qualified non-citizens who immigrated to the country before the age of 26 are required to register.
5. Meet academic achievement requirements
6. Be in good standing on all student loans or other financial aid programs
7. Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990;
8. Not have exceeded the maximum award limits for any HOPE program
Note: Students cannot have any outstanding grants, loans, or scholarships from the federal government or the state of Georgia. Before Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility can be verified, a student’s federal or State of Georgia student loans must be fully returned or the default status must be remedied. On a scholarship or grant program run by the state of Georgia, students cannot owe a refund. Before eligibility for the Zell Miller Scholarship may be verified, the refund amount must be paid in full.

Award Amounts for the Zell Miller Scholarship
The amount of the Zell Miller Scholarship fluctuates and is based on the sort of institution you are attending as well as your precise attendance hours.
For the specific number of hours enrolled, whether full-time or part-time, students who satisfy all eligibility requirements and are enrolled in an eligible public college or university are given a Zell Miller Scholarship award amount to be applied toward standard undergraduate tuition, up to a maximum of 15 hours.
Students who are enrolled in private colleges or universities and who meet all eligibility conditions are given a Zell Miller Scholarship award amount to be used for ordinary undergraduate tuition up to a maximum of 12 hours, depending on whether they are enrolled full- or part-time.
Application and Deadline for the Zell Miller Scholarship
Required Application
Students have two options when applying for the Zell Miller Scholarship:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or,
- Complete the online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP)
Note: The FAFSA must be completed each year. The GSFAPP remains valid for 10 years.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is the last day of the school term or a student’s withdrawal date, whichever occurs first.
Submit the annual FAFSA or the GSFAPP as early as possible; the earlier you apply, the earlier your college can determine your eligibility and awards.
