About FUTO
The First Executive President of Nigeria, Shehu Shagari, formed and appointed the first provisional Council in 1980, establishing FUTO as the Oldest University of Technology in Nigeria.
It eventually became the first of three such universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, which aimed to create a University of Technology in each geopolitical zone, particularly in a State without a traditional university.
