  • Seeking a first associate’s or bachelor’s degree with awards.

Scholarship Awards

If picked, the student will receive up to a $25,000 reward. Each scholarship program year, the number of scholarships will be decided by available finances, with up to ten (10) awards issued.

Assuming there are eligible candidates, each limited contribution from a donor requires one (1) student to be a resident of Des Moines, Iowa.

If there are no qualifying candidates from Des Moines, IA, one prize should go to a student from another part of Iowa.

Assuming there are eligible candidates, the donor’s limited gift requires two (2) beneficiaries to be from either Bayfield High School in Bayfield, WI or Cleveland High School in Cleveland, MN.

Awards can be used for any education-related cost. Awards are renewable for up to four (4) more years or until a first associate or bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first, depending on full-time attendance and good academic achievement.

Recipients may transfer from an associate’s to a bachelor’s degree program while maintaining the award. Only undergraduate students are eligible for the rewards.

Selection of recipients

Scholarship awardees are selected based on:

  • Financial demand
  • Showed leadership and engagement in school and community activities
  • Work background
  • As a first-generation student
  • Respond to Overcoming Obstacles Essay: Home Obligations.
  • A brief comment.

To be eligible for a grant, the student must demonstrate financial need as determined by Scholarship America.

Scholarship America will choose up to 25 candidates. The honorees will be determined by a selection committee. Not all program candidates will be selected as awardees.

Students can reapply to the program whenever they satisfy the qualifying conditions. Previous awardees are not eligible to reapply. All applicants accept the decision as final.

All candidates will be notified in mid-July. Meanwhile, payment was made in early August.
