  • Points are worth 3 to 6.25 cents each.

Ulta Credit Card Benefits

As a regular Ulta Beauty client, you have two credit card options available: the Ultamate Rewards® Credit Card* and the Ultamate Rewards® Mastercard® Credit Card*, both issued by Comenity Capital Bank.

Both cards have no annual fees, provide 20% off your first Ulta Beauty purchase, and earn 2 points per dollar on all Ulta Beauty purchases (1 point as a general member and 1 point as a credit card holder).

However, the Ultamate Rewards® Credit Card* can only be used in Ulta shops, whilst the Ultamate Rewards Mastercard may be used anywhere a Mastercard is accepted.

The Ultamate Rewards Mastercard also provides 500 additional points after spending $500 outside of Ulta Beauty during the first 90 days of account creation, as well as 1 point for $3 on non-Ulta purchases.

Unfortunately, you can only find out which card you’ll be authorised for by filling out an application. Comenity will take matters into its own hands and approve you for a card depending on your credit history.

The third choice is the Ultamate Rewards Card, which isn’t a credit card but rather a rewards card for Ultamate Rewards members.

It’s free to enroll, and every time you buy at Ulta, simply produce your membership card at checkout to earn points.

If you apply for an Ulta credit card in-store or online, you may use it on your first transaction. If you apply online, you must wait for the card to arrive before you may use it for future transactions.

Earning Rewards

With either version of the Ulta credit card, you will receive a 20% discount on your first purchase at an Ulta Beauty shop. Following the initial purchase, the incentive system is as follows:

  • Ulta purchases get 1 point per dollar (on both cards).
  • 1 point for every $3 spent at other retailers (on the Ultamate Rewards Mastercard alone).
  • The 1 point per dollar earning rate is in addition to the 1 point per dollar you would receive as a rewards programme member.

Keep in mind that points expire at the conclusion of the calendar quarter following the 12-month period in which you earned the incentives. Ulta points do not expire for Platinum or Diamond members.

Redeeming Rewards

The more frequently you purchase at Ulta Beauty locations, the faster the points accumulate. And the more points you get, the more they are worth.

Here’s what your Ultamate Rewards are worth:

  • 100 points = $3
  • 250 points = $8
  • 500 points = $17.50
  • 750 points = $30
  • 1,000 points = $50
  • 2,000 points = $125

Depending on the redemption option you select, the value of each point might range from 3 cents to 6.25 cents.

This is far greater than the industry norm of one cent per point, which is seen on many cash-back credit cards. However, points may only be redeemed in Ulta Beauty shops or on ulta.com.

Reward Potential

The points potential earned with the Ultamate points Credit Card or Ultamate Rewards Mastercard varies according on how frequently you shop at Ulta and how much you spend each visit.

Assume you visit an Ulta Beauty store every two months and spend $60 each time, totaling $360 in cosmetics and skincare every year.

As a standard Ultamate Rewards member, you earn 1 point every dollar, and using your Ulta credit card earns you an additional 1 point, for a total of 720 points each year.

According to the redemption chart above, 500 points can be redeemed for $17.50 in products.

You’ll earn even more if you get beauty services from an Ulta salon, such as haircuts or cosmetics, and use an Ulta-branded credit card to pay for them.

Depending on how frequently you cut and colour your hair or get your cosmetics done at an Ulta salon, you might achieve top-tier Diamond status in the Ultamate Rewards programme, earning 2.5 points on Ulta purchases and increasing the redemption value.

Other Ultamate Rewards Member Benefits

As an Ultamate Rewards member, you receive several benefits, which vary depending on your membership status.

  • $1,200 per year to be a Diamond member.

Who Should Get the Ulta Credit Card?

The Ulta credit card’s target audience is obvious: regular Ulta Beauty consumers, especially because the benefits can only be redeemed at Ulta stores.

Those who obtain Ulta Salon services will profit from charging the services to the card and collecting enough rewards to qualify for Ultimate Rewards status.

Those who frequently carry debt on their credit cards should avoid them. Ulta credit cards carry interest rates of up to 32.24%.

Although beauty necessitates sacrifice, the APR seems a bit excessive in this situation.
