The Sitaram Jindal Scholarship is a scholarship program based on both merit and financial need.

Established by the Sitaram Jindal Foundation, a charitable organization located in Bengaluru, the scholarship’s primary objective is to offer financial support to deserving and accomplished individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

To be eligible for the Sitaram Jindal Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in any academic year between class 11 and post-graduation.

Additionally, the scholarship extends its coverage to include Polytechnic and Diploma courses in technical education. Those who are selected for this scholarship can receive a monthly amount of up to INR 3,200.

Eligibility Criteria for Jindal Scholarship

Below are the category-wise eligibility criteria for applying to the Jindal Scholarship scheme:

Eligibility for Category A

  • Candidates must be studying in Class 11 or Class 12.
  • Female candidates should have achieved a minimum of 55% marks, and male candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their last examination.
  • Karnataka students, male or female, need to have scored a minimum of 70% and 65% marks respectively.
  • West Bengal students, male or female, should have obtained a minimum of 65% and 60% marks respectively.
  • Scholarship support will be discontinued once the student reaches 30 years of age.
  • For employed candidates, the annual family income should not exceed INR 4 lakh, while for others, it should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per annum.

Eligibility for Category B

  • Male candidates must have scored a minimum of 45% marks and female candidates 35% marks in their last examination.
  • Applicants must be pursuing an ITI course from any government or private institution.
  • The age of candidates should not exceed 30 years.
  • The annual family income of the candidate must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh, and for employed candidates, it should not exceed INR 4 lakh per annum.

Eligibility for Category C (Graduation courses)

  • Candidates should have achieved a minimum of 55% marks for boys and 50% marks for girls in their last year’s examination.
  • Karnataka students, male or female, must have scored a minimum of 70% and 65% marks respectively.
  • The candidate’s age should not exceed 30 years.
  • For West Bengal students, the minimum required percentage is 65% marks for boys and 60% marks for girls.
  • The annual family income for employed candidates should not exceed INR 4 lakh, while for other candidates, it should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per annum.

Eligibility for Category C (Post Graduate Candidates)

  • The candidate must be below 30 years of age.
  • The minimum marks required are 60% for boys and 55% for girls in their last year’s examination.
  • Karnataka students, male or female, should have secured at least 65% and 60% marks respectively.
  • The family income limit is INR 4 lakh per annum for employed candidates and INR 2.5 lakh per annum for other candidates.

Eligibility for Category D

  • Candidates must be pursuing a diploma course in Automobile Tech., Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, environment, or Chemical related courses.
  • Male candidates should have obtained a minimum of 55% marks, and female candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in their last year’s exam.
  • The age of candidates should not exceed 30 years.
  • The annual family income for employed candidates should not exceed INR 4 lakh, and for other candidates, it should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per annum.

Eligibility for Category E

  • Candidates must be studying medicine, architecture, or engineering courses.
  • Male candidates must have achieved a minimum of 65% marks, and female candidates should have secured at least 60% marks in their last year’s examination.
  • MDS students are not eligible to apply for this scheme.
  • The age of candidates should be above 30 years.
  • The family income limit is INR 4 lakh per annum for employed candidates and INR 2.5 lakh per annum for other candidates.
  • For candidates from West Bengal and Karnataka, a minimum of 70% marks is required for female candidates, and a minimum of 75% marks for male candidates.

How to Apply for the Jindal Scholarship

The application process for the Jindal Scholarship is both rigorous and rewarding. Follow these steps to apply:

1. Candidates can access the scholarship application form on the official Jindal Group website.

Documents Required to Fill Jindal Scholarship Application Form

All applicants are required to enclose certain essential documents along with their application form when submitting it to the officials at Sitaram Jindal Foundation.

These documents include:

1. Photocopy of the mark sheet from the most recent examination passed.

2. Photocopy of the SSLC/HSC marks card. If it does not contain the date of birth, any other proof of date of birth should be submitted additionally.

3. For Category A and B (PUC and ITI students), candidates must submit a photocopy of the Income Certificate or BPL card. For Category C, D, and E students (Graduate, Post Graduate, Diploma, Engineering, and Medical students), photocopies of the Income Certificate issued by the relevant authorities, as indicated by the respective State Governments, need to be submitted. The Income Certificate should be less than four years old at the time of application. Orphan candidates are exempt from submitting an Income Certificate but should provide the death certificate of their parents.

4. A certificate regarding annual fees as per Annexure-VIII.

5. A certificate confirming the students’ admission under the Government Merit Quota as per Annexure-VII (for B.Sc (Ag), B.Sc (Forestry), BVSC, Diploma, Engineering, Medical, and MBA students).

6. For hostellers, a certificate from the Warden or the owner of the private accommodation, as applicable (Annexure-IV or Annexure-IX).

7. For physically challenged candidates, a certificate from a competent authority.

8. For widows and Ex-servicemen:

  • PPO (Pension Payment Order).
  • Ex-servicemen ID Card.
  • Widow I-Card.
  • Relationship Dependency Certificate.
