UTME and Direct Entry Requirements for Applied Geology

For consideration for the UTME and Direct Entry, students must meet several prerequisites before being admitted to Nigerian universities.

Direct Entry Requirement for Applied Geology

If you plan not to use the UTME, you must meet these requirements to be admitted to study applied geology through Direct Entry.

You must have: 

(i) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in geography, biology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and geology.

NOTES AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER):

  1. i) FUTA allows;

(a) An ND in geology, mining engineering, or mineral resources with at least upper credit from accredited colleges of technology and polytechnics.

(b) “A” At least two (2) science subjects, including chemistry and physics, must be passed at a high level.

  1. ii) ATBU recognizes passes from the IJMB/’A’ Level in any three (3) of the following subjects: physics, math, biology, and chemistry. A recognized polytechnic awarded me a lower credit in geology. A five-(5) “O” Level credit pass in English language, mathematics, chemistry, biology or agricultural science, and physics is also required of the candidate. 

UTME Requirement for Applied Geology

As a UTME candidate, you must have five SSCE credit passes in English language, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and any other subject to apply for applied geology.

Keep in mind that all UTME courses require English language proficiency. The remaining three courses needed to study applied geology at the universities mentioned above’ Faculty of Sciences are:

Three from the following: physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and geography.
