About HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship is open to Georgia citizens who have proven academic accomplishment. This scholarship helps students cover the costs of attending a postsecondary school in the state of Georgia.

To be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA as assessed by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) upon graduation from high school. Students must also be enrolled in an undergraduate programme that leads to a degree. Full-time enrollment is not necessary to earn HOPE funds.

This $2,800 state grant is offered for two semesters of your first year of college attendance. If you are awarded a HOPE Scholarship, you will receive an award notification once the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives your final high school transcript.

Eligibility Requirements

You may be eligible for the LIFE Scholarship after you have exhausted your first-year eligibility. This scholarship eligibility includes:

  • You must be a United States citizen or an eligible noncitizen under state residence laws.
  • You must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and for the duration of the award.
  • You must have graduated from a South Carolina school or a high school outside of South Carolina while a legal resident’s dependent. Suppose you graduated from a high school outside of South Carolina. In that case, you must self-identify with the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships to ensure your application is not ignored during the university’s screening of LIFE-eligible students.
  • You must be a full-time, first-year undergraduate student working towards your first bachelor’s degree.
  • You must not be receiving a South Carolina Palmetto Fellows or LIFE Scholarship.
  • You must not have been convicted of a second or subsequent alcohol- or drug-related misdemeanour in any state during the previous academic year.
  • You cannot have been adjudicated delinquent, convicted, pled guilty, or nolo contendere to any felony in any state.
  • You must not be in default or owe any refunds or repayments for federal or state financial help.
  • The SC Uniform Grading Policy requires a final high school grade point average of 3.00.
  • You must be meeting.

Award Distribution

  • The $2,800 scholarship covers $2,500 in tuition expenditures and an extra $300 in textbooks.
  • The HOPE Scholarship is available only in the autumn and spring semesters.
  • The HOPE Scholarship will be awarded in equal amounts at the start of the fall and spring semesters.

Application Process

To be considered for the HOPE Scholarship, you must complete the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App) each year, as well as either the FAFSA or the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application (GSFAPPS).
