Michael Okpara University
Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, stands as one of the trio of agricultural universities commissioned by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Its inception dates back to 1992. Situated in Umudike, nestled within the Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria, the university lies approximately 11 kilometers southeast of Umuahia, the state capital.
The university also serves as a hub for several centers, including the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, the Centre for Gender and Child Development, and the Centre for Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology.
These centers actively support research endeavors undertaken by both students and faculty members.
Embodying the motto “knowledge, food, and security,” the university strives to furnish the requisite knowledge for achieving food security and mitigating hunger, not only in Nigeria but also on a global scale.
