About Ishan Uday Scholarship

For the Ministry of HRD and the University Grants Commission in particular, promoting higher education in the NER is important.

The UGC has decided to implement the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship for the North Eastern area beginning in the 2014–15 academic year in an effort to enhance the GER, support higher education, and uplift children from the economically disadvantaged region of the NE area.

Before the plan was launched, the UGC held comprehensive consultations with the Ministry of HRD, the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, the North Eastern Council, Shillong, State Governments, Central and State Universities, and other stakeholders.

The scholarship program gives winners up to ₹7,800 a month until they finish their degree program every year.

Ten thousand new scholarships are awarded annually to NER students enrolled in general degree programs, technical programs, and professional programs, including paramedical and medical courses, under the Ishan Uday scholarship program.

Scholarship Amount

Under the Ishan Uday scholarship for NER, 10,000 scholarships worth up to ₹7,800 a month must be given to qualified students each year.

The Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism is used to deposit the scholarship funds into the bank accounts of the selected candidates.

Based on its population, each North Eastern State is awarded a specific number of scholarships (as published in the most current Census report). The details of the Ishan Uday scholarship amount are listed below.

General degree students are eligible to receive a monthly ₹5,400 subsidy until their studies are finished.

A monthly ₹7,800 stipend is provided to selected students who are enrolled in technical, medical, professional, or paramedical courses.

When there are not enough eligible candidates to fill a scholarship in a state, the scholarship is transferred to another state.

Renewals

The scholarship for the first-degree program will be renewed by the program if the winner continues to maintain the necessary attendance and good behaviour.

The scholarship is designated renewed for the upcoming academic year by the administrative head of the University, Institution, or College upon receipt of an annual progress report from any officer, such as the Principal of the College, the Director of the Institution, or the Registrar of a University.

Students who failed to move on to the following class or level would not receive the scholarship.
