What is Aikyashree Scholarship?

Aikyashree is an exemplary online scholarship program that recognizes and provides financial support to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and minority communities.

Administered by the West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, it aims to encourage talented students by covering their entire educational expenses.

The West Bengal Minority Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) offers various scholarship programs. Among them, the Aikyashree scholarship has been established to provide financial support to students from minority communities, including Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsee, and Jain backgrounds, through assistance from the State government.

Apart from this primary objective, the Aikyashree scholarship program serves several other purposes. It aims to:

Aikyashree Scholarship Programmes

  • Students of Class 9 and Class 10 can apply for this scholarship program.
  • The chosen students can avail of the scholarship amount ranging from Rs. 150 to Rs. 750 per month.
  • Besides the scholarship amount, the selected students get an additional Ad hoc Reward of up to Rs. 1000 per year.
West Bengal Post-matric Scholarship
  • Students of Class 11, Class 12, Graduation, and Post-graduation can apply for this scholarship program.
  • This scholarship offers financial support to SC, ST and OBC students studying at the post-matric or post-secondary level.
  • The chosen students can avail of the scholarship amount ranging from Rs. 160 to Rs. 1200 per month. 
Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship, West Bengal
  • This scholarship is intended for female students.
  • The scholarship is only offered to students who have qualified for class 12th from any board in West Bengal.
  • Female students seeking an undergraduate degree course in Basic Science/ Engineering/Medicine at any institute of West Bengal can apply for this scholarship program.
  • The chosen students will get Rs. 3000 per month.
  • Besides the scholarship amount, the student will also get a yearly book grant of Rs. 2000.
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)
  • This is a  merit-cum-means based scholarship.
  • Students from Class 11 to PhD level candidates can apply for this scholarship program.
  • Financial support of up to Rs. 8000 per month is given to minority students depending on their level of education or program.
  • The distribution of this scholarship fund is mainly based on the student’s academic advantage and financial need.
Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal
  • This scholarship is offered to assist and support students studying the Hindi language in Non-Hindi speaking states like West Bengal.
  • Students studying in higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate and research level courses (M.Phil., PhD or M.Lit. etc.) can apply for this scholarship.
  • The chosen students can avail of the scholarship amount ranging from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements vary for each type of Aikyashree scholarship, and students need to apply for the scholarships based on their respective education levels.

West Bengal Pre-matric Scholarship (SC/ST Students)

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1. The student must be a resident of West Bengal.

2. The student should be studying in either Class 9 or Class 10.

3. The student must belong to either the SC (Scheduled Caste) or ST (Scheduled Tribe) category.

4. The annual family income of the student should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh.

West Bengal Post-matric Scholarship

The following eligibility criteria apply to the scholarship:

1. The student should be a resident of West Bengal.

2. The student must belong to either the SC, ST, or OBC category.

3. Eligible students include those studying in Class 11, 12, Graduation, or Post Graduation.

4. The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh for OBC students, Rs. 2 lakh for SC students, and Rs. 2.5 lakh for ST category students.

Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship, West Bengal

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1. The student must be a resident of West Bengal.

2. The applicant should be female.

3. Candidates must have successfully completed Class 12 from any recognized board.

4. The student should have the ambition to pursue education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, or Basic Science at a reputable institution in West Bengal.

Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)

For students pursuing graduation in Engineering, Medical, and Technical/Professional courses (excluding general Undergraduate or Postgraduate degrees), they must meet the following criteria:

1. If studying at the higher secondary level or pursuing a diploma, they must have secured a minimum of 75% marks in class 10th.

2. If studying at the undergraduate level, they must have secured a minimum of 75% marks in class 12th.

3. The student’s annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.

4. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving students based on merit-cum-means criteria.

5. Students pursuing M.Phil. courses and Doctoral courses from state-aided institutions are also eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1. The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.

2. The applicant should be from a non-Hindi-speaking state.

3. The student must have passed any of the following degree courses – Madhyamik, higher secondary, graduation, PG, or any equivalent degree course.

4. The student must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in the previous qualifying examination, in the first attempt, with Hindi as one of the subjects.

Scholarship Rewards

The Aikyashree scholarship is exclusively awarded to students who have achieved a score of over 50% in their previous examinations.

This financial support is provided to eligible students from the State Government fund and is distributed under two categories: Day scholars and Hostellers. Below are the comprehensive scholarship incentives for both groups.

Documents Required During Application Process

Students intending to enroll and apply for the Aikyashree scholarship should ensure they have access to all the required certificates and documents before proceeding with the application process.

1. Residential/Domicile certificate

6. Fee receipt of the current course year

7. Self-attested certificate of the previous year’s mark sheet

Application Process

If a student wishes to renew their WBMDFC scholarship, they should follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website for All Scholarships (Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, MCM, TSP, SVMCM scholarship).

2. Click on the Renewal Application option, which will open a new window.

3. Select the district and click OK on the dialogue box displayed on the screen.

4. Log in by providing the application ID, date of birth, district, and captcha code.

5. Click Login.

6. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Enter the received OTP and submit.

7. There will be two options – Renew Application and Withdraw Application. Click on Renew Application.

8. Fill in the required details in the registration form, such as name, date of birth, email ID, parent’s name, gender, religion, etc.

9. Click on Submit and Next.

10. Provide previous and current academic details.

11. Click on Submit and Next.

12. Verify the bank details, including IFSC code, bank and branch name, bank account number, and name on the bank account as per the passbook.

13. Tick the confirmation box ‘I confirm that the bank account details are correct to the best of my knowledge & belief.’

14. Click on Submit and Next.

15. Upload the necessary documents along with the form (institute verification certificate).

16. Submit the application form by clicking the Submit and Next tab.

17. Review all the details before the final submission.

18. Click on Submit and Lock Renewal Application tab.

19. A popup will appear to confirm if the details are correct. If they are, click on OK.

20. Click on Print Renewal Application to obtain a printout of the application.
