Union Plus Scholarship | Overview
Since 1991, the Scholarship Program has provided over $5.6 million to students from working families who desire to start or continue their postsecondary education. Over 4,000 families have benefited from our dedication to higher education.
The Union Plus Education Foundation offers the Union Plus Scholarship Program, which is partially funded by the Union Plus Credit Card issuer. (You are not required to have a Union Plus Credit Card to apply for this scholarship.)
The Union Plus Scholarship is awarded yearly to union members or members of their families who desire to start or continue their postsecondary education.
In 2024, 209 union members and their families received $200,000 in scholarships ranging from $500 to $4,000.

Scholarship Eligibility
Current and retired union members, their wives, and dependent children (as defined by IRS laws). A minimum of one year of continuous union membership by the candidate, spouse, or parent (if dependent).
The one-year membership requirement must be met by May 31 of the scholarship year. More eligibility information may be found below.
Evaluation Criteria
This is a competitive scholarship. Academic aptitude, social awareness, financial necessity, and work respect are all factors considered while evaluating applicants.
A GPA of 3.0 or better is preferred. The necessary essays might count for up to half of your overall score. A group of neutral postsecondary educators evaluates scholarship candidates.
Scholarship Award Amounts
The amounts vary from $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash incentives are for studies starting in the fall of 2025. Students may reapply each year.
Application Timeline
Applications are accessible starting in mid-June, and completed applications must be received by Noon Eastern Standard Time on January 31st of the scholarship year. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
