You can find yourself chained to your phone all day because you cannot simply avoid leaving it. Adults are not the only ones affected here, because teenagers and children also live lives impacted by technology on a daily basis. Nearly everyone has likely experienced this problem to some extent.

While some forms of technology may have made positive changes in the world, there is evidence for the negative effects of technology and its overuse, as well.

We don’t hold our phone at eye level when we are looking at it, either. Instead, we typically lean over with our heads down to examine it.

All of this leads to poor posture, neck and back pain, and occasional wrist pain from constantly using our devices.

‣ Eyestrain : Constant looking at the screen  of mobile phones, tablets and computers for several hours can cause eye strain.

Symptoms of digital eye strain can include blurred vision and dry eye. The screen brightness of these gadgets affects the eye negatively. 

‣ Sleep disorder :Spending too much on social media can cause sleep disorders and problems. Shortening your sleeping time due to social media engagement can lead to headaches, drowsiness and weakness or total breakdown if you are a busy person. 

2. Fraud

Fraudulent activities going on with the use of technology has become a thing of great concern to both individuals and governments.

Because of how fast communication can flow people use it for negative reasons. Social media platforms are now breeding space for fraudsters.

People no longer want to work to make ends meet, but rather choose to use their laptops and phones to defraud vulnerable and active individuals who fall prey to the scams.

Due to the increase of fraud online markets are beginning to lose their impacts as individuals no longer trust what they see online due to fraud.

People are becoming extra careful and vigilant as well as using this social media platforms with fear as no one is to be trusted. 

3. Isolation

Technologies, such as social media, are designed to bring people together, yet they may have the opposite effect in some cases.

The attachment to our devices can also leave us feeling isolated. A significant lack of human contact can even cause depression.

When the majority of our interactions with others take place online we may even feel disconnected from humanity. Sometimes our online friends are not really friends at all.

In the end, electronic communication is a long way from true human companionship and it may even hurt your personal relationships.

Some people now choose to just text or chat, destroying personal and face to face communication which helps to strengthen relationships. 

4. Negative Effects on Children 

Since the world has changed and children are born into the technological era, it has affected them negatively. There is no room for creativity and togetherness experienced by children during childhood.

Children of this era are either glued to watching cartoons or playing video games, limiting the scope of imagination and creativity to the things they watch.

Children who might not be opportuned to live this luxury feel like outcasts and find themselves constructed trying to be like their peers, leaving them unsatisfied creating a different mentality for them as they grow up. 

Children who overuse technology may be more likely to experience issues, including:

  • low academic performance
  • lack of attention
  • low creativity
  • delays in language development
  • delays in social and emotional development
  • physical inactivity and obesity
  • poor sleep
  • quality social issues, such as social
  • incompatibility and anxiety
  • aggressive behaviors etc.

Teenagers are gradually getting alot of ideas both negative and positive due to the availability of technology. The use of phones and tablets has reduced reading cultures among teenagers as they are glued to their mobile phones because of the abundance of internet. 

Exposure to the internet leads to browsing through pornographic sites exposing teenagers to things that should not be allowed for their ages.

When they view these erotic scenes they would want to try them out without accurate or precise knowledge of what it actually entails. They become addicted to these sites and derive joy in watching them. 

While attempting to try it out it can lead to unwanted pregnancies, and when it occurs they can try to get it out because they saw it on the internet.

Unknown to them that it can lead to incalculable circumstances, diseases or even death. 

5. Technology Promotes Sedentary Lifestyle 

Most everyday digital technologies are sedentary. More extended use of these technologies promotes a more sedentary lifestyle, which is known to have negative health effects, such as obesity, depression, anxiety.

The more time we spend hanging out on YouTube and Instagram, the less time we spend outside doing other thing. This is not good for our general well-being.
