Step Up For Students

Step Up For Students | Overview

Step Up For Students is a Florida-based nonprofit scholarship financing organization that administers four scholarships for Florida schools, empowering families to explore and engage in the most appropriate learning alternatives for their children.

The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program (FTC) is for low- and middle-income families. The Family Empowerment Scholarship (FES), formerly known as the Gardiner Scholarship, is designed for low- to middle-income families and children with particular skills.

The Hope Scholarship is intended for public school students who have been bullied or are victims of violence. The Reading Scholarship Accounts are for public school kids in grades 3-5 who struggle to read.

How the Scholarships Work

Since 2002, more than 331,000 scholarships have been granted to low-income Florida students in grades K–12. Could your child be next?

Students learn in different ways, and parents must pick the ideal school for their children. That might imply another public school in a different neighbourhood or a private school.

Step Up For Students exists to assist low-income families in experiencing all of these options.

Students who qualify for the free or reduced school lunch program may be eligible for a Step Up For Students Scholarship to a private school or cash to assist with transportation to an out-of-district public school.

The idea is to provide your family with choices for your child’s education. It’s your child; it’s your decision.

The Florida Legislature established these scholarships in 2001 to guarantee that low-income students had access to educational opportunities.

According to the legislation, scholarships are awarded based on financial need rather than academic performance.

They are given on a first-come, first-served basis and may be moved to other qualified institutions if the kid relocates within the state or just wishes to attend a different Step Up partner school.
