Rangel Fellowship

Rangel Fellowship Graduate Program

The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program designed to attract and prepare exceptionally talented individuals for careers in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. In this role, they can contribute to the development, representation, and execution of U.S. foreign policy.

Every year, the Rangel Program selects outstanding Rangel Fellows through a highly competitive nationwide process and supports them for two years of graduate studies, internships, mentoring, and professional development activities.

This program places particular emphasis on encouraging individuals from minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, as well as women and those facing financial challenges, to submit their applications.

Successful completion of the program, combined with meeting Foreign Service entry requirements, leads to appointments as Foreign Service Officers, in accordance with relevant laws and State Department policies.

Rangel Fellows are committed to serving their nation and promoting positive global change. Graduates of the Rangel Program are currently making substantial contributions in various countries worldwide, including Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, China, Korea, Bangladesh, Spain, and Ireland.
