About Plateau State University (PLASU)

Generally, Plateau State University is a Plateau state-owned university in the Nigerian town of Bokkos. It was founded in 2005. On April 29, 2005, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recognized it as the 66th university in Nigeria and the 24th state-owned institution in the country.

Going deeper, the university was established under Law No. 4 of 2005 (March 7, 2005), as published in Plateau State of Nigeria Gazette No. 3, Vol. 11 on May 24, 2006. It is situated in Diram Village in the Bokkos Local Government Area, some 70 kilometers from Jos, the capital city.

Even though academic activities began in May 2007 with a total of 480 students, they were discontinued on September 10 of the same year and the students transferred to the University of Jos. Anyways, the university reopened in October 2010 for the 2010/2011 academic semester, with classes beginning in January 2011.

Then again, in March 2016, the National Universities Commission granted full accreditation to the university’s first 17 programs. This earned the university “full university” standing.

It helps you to know how everything is laid out and on exam day you don’t stress out over it. It’s important to be aware of the location of any additional material that may be included on the exam paper, such as equations for the sciences and mathematics.

After completing a few practice exams, you are familiar with the format of the questions. It’s good to be aware of this so you don’t write an essay-length response for a 2-mark question and run out of time for a 10-mark question later in the paper. In general, the paper will start with lower-mark questions and build up.
