PEO STAR Scholarship
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship (STAR) was founded in 2009 to give scholarships to outstanding women in their senior year of high school to attend an eligible higher educational institution in the United States or Canada the following academic year. The reward value is $2,500.
Scholarship Requirements
This programme is accessible to women who have graduated from high school in the United States or Canada and want to study full- or part-time at an authorised higher educational institution.

Eligibility and Application Process
The P.E.O. STAR award is a non-renewable $2,500 award for graduating women in their senior year of high school that must be used within the academic year after graduation or it will be forfeited. Their local P.E.O. branch nominates all applicants.
Eligibility Requirements
A woman is qualified to apply for a STAR Scholarship if:
- Recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
- Is a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States or Canada?
- Have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Exhibits distinction in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and the promise of future success.
- Plans to attend an approved higher education institution in the United States or Canada full-time or part-time in the autumn of the academic year after her high school graduation.
- Individuals who meet these qualifying criteria will be reviewed non-discriminatorily, without regard for race, age, country of origin, religious affiliation, handicap, or P.E.O. connection.
Application Process
Members of a local P.E.O. branch will interview a student before recommending her.
After a local chapter recommends a student, the P.E.O. Executive Office will send the candidate an email with information on how to enter into an online account and finish her application. This must be sent within 30 days of her receiving the email.
The application comprises information about the student’s activities, a one-page essay, two references, and an unofficial high school transcript (up to 11th grade/junior year).
Canadian candidates must additionally include their Province Conversion Grading Scale. The application includes a link that students can email to references, which they must complete by the deadline.
P.E.O. STAR Scholarship Award and Deadline
The award is $2,500, and the application deadline is May 31, 2024.
Awards are announced yearly on April 30, with notification issued to all candidates and recommended chapters.
