Requirements to Study Law in Nigeria

  • To begin, you must have at least 5 credit passes in your O’level result (WAEC or NECO) including English and Mathematics in not more than two (2) sittings to study law in Nigeria. Some schools, however, just required one sitting.
  • By the 31st of October of the entrance year, you must have achieved the age of sixteen (16).
  • Meet the Law school cut-off threshold.

Direct Entry Requirements To Study Law In Nigeria

  • In a maximum of two (2) sittings, a minimum of 5 credits in the Ordinary Level Credits of the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE).
  • Degree in allied disciplines (First Class/Second Class Upper).
  • Candidates for direct entrance must obtain a Direct Entry form from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  • A Merit Pass in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), and other Advanced Level Certificates is required.

  • AAU and NAU both demand an ‘O’ level credit pass in at least one (1) science and one (1) commercial subject, as well as an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics.

  • PHC requires two (2) other ‘O’ level credit passes from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, Christian Religious Studies, and Islamic Studies at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English
    and any other three (3) Social Science or Arts subjects with ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • NDU needs five (5) credit passes at the ‘O’ level in English Language, Mathematics, English Literature, and any other two (2) subject taken in not more than two (2) sittings.
  • English Language and Literature in English are required by OAU.
  • OOU needs a credit pass in English Literature and at least an ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics.
  • PHC requires two (2) additional ‘O’ level credit passes in no more than two (2) sittings in Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, Christian Religious Studies, and Islamic Studies.
  • UMYUK-Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English, and any other three (3) Social Science or Arts courses, with an ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2).
