What is the Meaning of IJMB?

Definitely, if you are a newbie you might be wondering what IJMB  means. it’s an acronym which stands for Interim Joint Matriculation Board.

That’s not all, furthermore, the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was established in 1976 and moderated by a reputable institution in Nigeria— Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

In addition, Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE), is an advanced-level programme intended for students aspiring to secure university admission without UTME through Direct Entry (DE).

Hence, the programme is open to all interested applicants nationwide for any course be it Science, Art or Social Science. However, the programme runs for a duration of nine(9) months divided into two semesters.

So, During this period, students are exposed to intensive lectures from Monday to Friday every week at their respective study centres. Most importantly, the IJMB certificate is recognised and accepted for any direct entry (DE) admission into any tertiary institution be it federal, state or private universities in Nigeria and even internationally.

Fortunately, it has been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and also by the Federal Government.

How does IJMB work?

Consequently, IJMB gives you the liberty as a prospective student to choose three courses/subjects of your choice. This must be related to your field of study which you will likely study in your desired University.

Meanwhile, Candidates would then be lectured for the stipulated period at their respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination.

Most importantly, It is expected that prospective students should score at least 5 points in their IJMB exams to be considered eligible for the 200 level.

Finally, On completion of the programme, successful candidates can utilize their IJMB certificate to secure admission into 200 level in any Nigeria tertiary institution via Direct Entry. On the whole, this boycotts the stress from sitting for JAMB examinations.
