Thankfully, mobile telecom providers have enabled us to share data with our friends and loved ones in order to reconnect them to the internet. How to Transfer Data on MTN

Follow the steps below to learn how to share or transfer data to others from any of the four major service providers.

Transfer Data on MTN, GLO, 9Mobile, and Airtel

You may use the Data Gifting feature to transfer data from your active data balance to friends, buy data for friends, and request data from friends. You may transfer and buy data bundles for your other cellphones, routers, and tablets using the program.

Your data can only be shared with those who use the same service provider as you. If you use MTN, for example, you can only exchange data with other MTN subscribers.

How to Transfer Data on MTN

On the MTN network, you may exchange data in three ways: via USSD, SMS, or the MTN App.

For USSD

  • Open your phone’s caller app and enter *131*7#.
  • Select option 1: Data balance transfer.
  • Enter the phone number of the receiver.
  • Determine how much data to transfer.
  • Choose option 1: Confirm the transaction.

For SMS

  • Open your message app.
  • Enter “Transfer,” followed by the friend’s phone number and the data quantity. Transfer 08130300000 1000, for example.
  • Text a message to 131.
  • If your data transfer is successful, you will receive a confirmation message.

For App

  • Open the MyMTN smartphone app. If you don’t already have the app, you may get it here and register your information.
  • On the app’s home screen, select “Share.”
  • You will be presented with data and airtime sharing choices. Choose “Data.”
  • Enter the amount of data you want to transfer as well as the phone number of the receiver.
  • Select  “Proceed.”

How to Transfer Data on Airtel

Airtel Data Share, also known as the Me2U, allows data sharing on the Airtel network. Follow the steps below to gain access to the Me2U service.

  • Dial *141#.
  • Click the “Share Data” button. It’s number eight on the list.
  • Select the fourth option, “Data Me2U.”
  • Choose “Enter from existing balance.”
  • Enter the recipient’s phone number and the quantity of data to be sent.
  • Send.

How to Transfer Data on 9Mobile

It is quite simple to learn how to exchange or transfer data using 9Mobile. In contrast to MTN and Airtel, customers must provide a PIN to share data, and the default PIN for all users is 0000.

However, in order to utilize it, you must alter the PIN. Dial *247*default PIN*new PIN# to change your PIN. If this is successful, you will receive a confirmation message.

To Transfer Data

  • Dial *229*, then enter your new PIN, data quantity, and recipient’s phone number, and then send. *229*1234*1000*07130300000# is an example.
  • If you are successful, you will receive a confirmation message.

How to Transfer Data on GLO

You may transfer data with Glo in three ways: via the direct Glo data code, normal USSD, or SMS. Follow the steps below to share data using the direct code.

  • Dial *127*01*, then the phone numbers of the recipients. For instance, *127*01*07130300000#
  • Press send.

For USSD Code

  • Dial *777#.
  • Choose “Data” as the first option.
  • Choose option 2, “Share data plan.”
  • Select the first option, “Share.”
  • Send after entering the recipient’s phone number.

You will receive an email confirming that your data share was successful.

To Share Data via SMS

  • Enter your messaging app.
  • Type “Share” and the recipient’s phone number.
  • Please send to 127.

Unlike the other network providers listed, sharing data using these GLO codes means the receiver now has unlimited access to your data until you remove them from the plan. Follow the procedures below to delete them and unshared data:

  • Code Unique
  • Dial *127*01*<recipient’s number>#.

Via SMS

  • Enter your messaging app.
  • Type “Remove” followed by their phone number.
  • Please send to 127.

With the above format, you can transfer your data to any network using any of the above formats of your choice.
