The scholarship promotes the exhibits and events business by drawing college-level students to the subject of study and providing financial support.

Helen Brett Scholarship Overview 

Robert Kolinek, CEM, CMP established the Helen Brett Scholarship, in honour of his grandmother, Helen Brett, a pioneer in the trade show industry.

This scholarship aims to support students enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, and junior, or technical colleges who are focused on exhibition and event management.

The scholarship encourages students to enter the exhibitions and events industry by providing financial assistance.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited institution. Graduate students are ineligible if their graduate assistant position is fully funded by their school or an external source.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program focused on exhibition, event, or hospitality management, as reflected on transcripts or other documentation like an admissions letter.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A complete application with supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline. Required supporting items include:
  • Resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty or industry leaders, detailing their title and contact information.
  • Transcript showing the degree program or other supporting documentation.
  • Essay (500-1,000 words) outlining career goals and how the scholarship would assist in achieving them.
