Drake University Bachelors Scholarships: All full-time undergraduate students at Drake receive gifts to aid in the form of scholarships and/or grants. They provide financial aid to help your family meet its financial needs as well as educational grants intended to recognize your academic success or artistic or athletic skill.

Drake University Bachelors Scholarships

Scholarships for First-Year, Transfer, and International Students. Drake has scholarships created to recognize your abilities and accomplishments no matter where you shine.

You’ve demonstrated your abilities as a student, artist, athlete, or perhaps even as all three at once. No matter how those talents are displayed, Drake University offers a wide range of scholarships to honor prospective students for their abilities.

Presidential Scholarship

The annual range for Presidential Scholarships is $24,000–27,000. 100% of full-time, first-year undergraduate students will be awarded a Presidential Scholarship.

These tuition bursaries are given out after a thorough evaluation of the admissions application. Depending on the sort of scholarship, awards are based on a range of factors, not only financial needs.

Please be aware that if required academic status and grade point average are maintained, all scholarships are renewable (up to 4 years total or until a bachelor’s degree is attained).

Program and Scholarship Availability

Law 3 + 3

  • Undergraduate awards are available for 3 years or until the first year of the Law Program (L1).

Doctor of Pharmacy

  • Undergraduate awards are available for 4 years or through the 2nd year of the Pharmacy Program (P2).

Masters in Athletic Training

  • Undergraduate awards are available for 3 years or until the first year of the Athletic Training Program (AT1). There is a one-time, $5000 scholarship for AT1.

National Alumni Scholarship

The most competitive scholarship program at Drake University is the National Alumni Scholarship (NAS).

Outstanding first-year students enrolling directly from high school who fulfill all requirements and complete the whole application procedure are given National Alumni Scholarships.

The National Alumni Scholarship competition in 2024 will be conducted online.

The Awards

1. One Drake University National Alumni Scholarship with full tuition. Any additional half-tuition scholarships are superseded by this award.

2. Drake University will accept three $10,000 Carpenter Scholarships toward tuition. The top three semi-finalists who successfully participate in a scholarship interview and the National Alumni Scholarship Day program will be the awardees.

  • A student’s Presidential Scholarship, which ranges in value from $24,000 to $27,000, may be combined with this scholarship. The Carpenter Scholarship, however, takes precedence over the Trustee Scholarship.

3. Scholarship semi-finalists who complete their participation in a scholarship interview and the virtual National Alumni Scholarship program are given Trustee Scholarships worth $4,000 toward their tuition at Drake University.

  • A student’s Presidential Scholarship, which ranges in value from $24,000 to $27,000, may be combined with this scholarship.

All scholarships are renewable for an additional three years provided full-time enrollment and the required minimum cumulative GPA are maintained.

 Scholarship Criteria

A student must be entering directly from high school, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 on a scale of 4.0, OR place in the top five percent of their class to be eligible to apply for these scholarship grants (weighted GPAs are accepted).

Additionally, our National Alumni Scholars are students who show excellence in other areas, such as outstanding academic performance, which is frequently acknowledged by their school, state, or the national level; take ownership and serve in leadership roles across a variety of activities or organizations making beneficial contributions to the greater good.

Their scholars are pupils who show a strong work ethic and dedication to their extracurricular activities, paid employment, and/or voluntary activities.

Scholars show initiative and creativity by trying something new or unexpected and in how they overcame hardship or adversity.

Finally, scholars demonstrate a passion for their work and their studies. They have a love of learning evident in their achievements and expanding their world.

 Application Process

To apply for these scholarships, all qualified candidates must complete the following steps:

  • By 11:59 PM CST on December 1, 2024, apply for admission (together with all necessary admission checklist items).
  • By 11:59 p.m. CST on December 1, 2024, submit the (separate) National Alumni Scholarship application.

The number of applicants will be reduced to a few semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be contacted around the middle of January.

  • To be eligible to compete for the full tuition National Alumni Scholarship or one of the three $10,000 Carpenter Scholarships, semi-finalists must take part in a virtual scholarship interview and virtual National Alumni Scholarship program.
  • Regardless of the outcome of the scholarship competition, semi-finalists are guaranteed a Trustee Scholarship of $4,000 so long as they complete their virtual interview and attend the virtual National Alumni Scholarship Program.

The virtual National Alumni Scholarship Semi-Finalist Selection Interviews will take place on:

  • Thursday, January 26, 2024
  • Sunday, January 29, 2024
  • Saturday, February 4, 2024

The virtual National Alumni Scholarship Program will be held on:

  • Tuesday, February 7, 2024
  • Saturday, February 11, 2024

All participants are required to submit a 45-minute timed essay, which will be examined and taken into account when determining the semi-finalists’ full applications.

Only semi-finalists for the National Alumni Scholarship are invited to participate in the interview and program components. After reviewing the data included in the National Alumni Scholarship application, semi-finalists are chosen. In order to be eligible for the $10,000 Carpenter scholarship or the full tuition National Alumni Scholarship, applicants must be invited to the interview and virtual program components. If accepted, they can choose their interview and program date from the available list of dates. Reserved times and dates will be made according to availability.

Notification of awards will be in mid-March 2024.

No exceptions are permitted on the December 1, 2023, deadline.

Fine Arts Scholarship

 

Selected students who have a remarkable talent in the performing arts, music, or visual arts and who are pursuing a degree in fine arts may be eligible for fine arts scholarships. Each of Drake’s fine arts departments has information and application materials for these scholarships (art, music, and theatre arts).

Depending on the sort of scholarship, awards are based on a range of factors, not only financial needs.
