ANU students can apply for a variety of scholarships to assist cover the cost of their education. Many of the scholarships they offer are funded by donors and benefactors, outside organizations, and the Australian Government.

Action Trust Honours Scholarship

The Fenner School of Environment and Society and the Research School of Earth Sciences are providing this scholarship.

The scholarship’s goal is to make it possible for emerging scholars and professionals to do high-quality research in fields related to the ACTION Trust’s interest and/or the environment and sustainability.

Field of study;

Honors in a Program offered by the Fenner School of Environment and Society or the Earth and Marine Science program in the Research School of Earth Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship shall be available for award each year to students who:

1. Have been successful in gaining entry into the Honours year of a program of study through the Fenner School of Environment and Society or the Earth and Marine Science program in the Research School of Earth Sciences:

2. Have a strong academic record;

3. Are intending to undertake research in an area relating to environment and sustainability;

4. Have willing and suitable supervision.

Selection Process

The scholarship will be given mostly based on academic achievement. The candidate’s topic of study, the availability of qualified supervision, the applicant’s prior academic record, and recommendations from two academic referees familiar with the applicant’s work may also be taken into consideration by the selection committee (if required).

Applications must include:

1. A statement of no more than one page in length describing the intended research, its relevance to environment and sustainability and the motivation for undertaking research on this topic;

2. The applicant’s academic record;

3. Name and contact details of the applicant’s identified supervisor/s;

4. Contact details for two academic referees familiar with the applicant’s work.

Agent-Based Modelling Scholarship

This Ph.D. Scholarship is offered by the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, attached to Professor Sue O’Connor’s Australian Laureate Fellowship, which is to conduct research on the earliest modern human colonization of Island South East Asia.

Field of study;

Strong background in modeling and an interest in its application to archaeology and ecology.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least upper second-class honors (first-class honors is preferred) or equivalent, or a Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree with a significant research thesis component and/or relevant experience.

2. The eligible Program is 9050 Ph.D. in Culture History and Language, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.

Scholarship Benefits

Funding for involvement in fieldwork in Indonesia (if desired), software, and international travel for conference attendance in years 2 and 3 of the Ph.D.

Alex Rodgers Travelling Scholarship

The ANU Faculty of Science offers these scholarships.

One or two RSAA graduate students may be eligible for the Alex Rodgers Traveling Scholarship, which will allow them to take a trip that is directly related to their thesis work (It will not be awarded to fund an overseas observing run).

The program’s scientific excellence, its value to RSAA and the student, and the efficient use of scholarship money are taken into account when making the grant.

Field of study: Astronomy and Astrophysics

Eligibility Criteria

Full-time current RSAA Ph.D. student. A successful applicant is ineligible to apply again. Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia; International students.

A E Ringwood Supplementary Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). The A.E. Ringwood Scholarships are designed to attract students of high calibre to pursue Ph.D. research in Earth Sciences.

Field of study: Earth Sciences

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s degree with first-class honors, or a research Master’s degree from a recognized university; International Students will be considered for this scholarship. Discipline-specific.

Scholarship Benefits

Awardees of this scholarship will have been successful in obtaining a full Tuition Fee Scholarship and an ANU (stipend) Scholarship; which includes travel to Canberra; reimbursement of some removal expenses; thesis reimbursement allowance.

How to Apply

There is no separate application process as the scholarship is awarded to the highest-ranked eligible candidate.

The application must be taken up by 31 March.
